Naomi Osaka Sells Her California Home For Extraordinary Figure

Naomi Osaka's already significant wealth has increased further after selling her home in California to the former owners for an eye-watering sum.

Although she is Japanese and very proud of where she came from, Osaka has resided in the United States since age four. The four-time Grand Slam champion moved there to live with her father's parents in New York.

Osaka later moved to California as an adult. In 2022, celebrity couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey sold their home in Tarzana, California, to Osaka for $6.2 million. Nick works as a reality TV host.

Vanessa is an actress, and the couple's move from their California home was caused by her starring in the series NCIS: Hawaii. That show was canceled last year, and Vanessa and Nick wanted to come back to California.

Sources told The Wall Street Journal that Osaka made upgrades to the home while living there, such as a gym and a recovery area that included a sauna, a massage table, and a steam room, making it easy for her to do fitness work.

However, Osaka did not add a tennis court to the home. Some players prefer having the convenience of a court at home, while others like the feeling of getting out of the house and going to a separate space to practice.

The former WTA world No. 1 chose to have more relaxing features instead of a tennis court. These include a swimming pool, hot tub, and pickleball court, giving her the chance to enjoy a lower-intensity sport for fun.

Although the home sounds highly impressive, Osaka has elected to sell it for a higher amount than she paid three years ago. Nick and Vanessa reacquired the property for $7.9 million, giving the tennis star a $1.7 million profit.

Whether Osaka plans to buy a different home or wants to move away from California is uncertain. Splitting with her partner and the father of her child, Cordae, could have influenced the decision.

Some wealthy individuals also leave California because its state taxes are among the highest in the U.S. Florida is a popular replacement, although it should be noted that many love living in California because of the social and economic opportunities available in the state.

Osaka played her best tennis in over three years during her run to the Canadian Open final earlier this month. After taking the opening set against Victoria Mboko in the final, she looked set for a first title since the 2021 Australian Open.

However, the home favorite delighted the Canadian crowd by recovering to beat Osaka. Some criticized the Japanese star for not mentioning Mboko in her speech. Osaka revealed afterward that she forgot about it.

Although losing that final was painful, Osaka must be feeling additional confidence ahead of the US Open after playing outstandingly during most of her run in Montreal.
