Emma Raducanu will not be coming back this year, as she confirmed in a recent interview, confirming that the 2023 season is over for her.
Emma Raducanu last played in Stuttgart earlier this year, which was just before she announced that she would be undergoing triple surgery. The British player struggled with injuries for much of last and this year, which is why she opted to finally address the issues surgically.
The surgeries were a success, and she slowly started to practice again, but she won't be making a comeback this year, as revealed by BBC. It's not surprising, even though plenty of fans held out hope that Raducanu might return. The conservative approach to recovery makes sense, as the Brit certainly wants to avoid re-injuring again.
She underwent major surgeries, and rushing makes no sense, especially since all of the Grand Slams were played already, and Raducanu wants to recover fully and strengthen her body before finally getting back to tennis and competing on the WTA Tour.
Next season I'll be back. This season all the slams were finished so it was difficult to watch them go by but I was trying to stay in my lane as much as possible and keep focused on my recovery.
With that news, it's pretty clear that Raducanu will return in Australia at the Australian Open, which could serve as a great tournament for the Brit to return to her top form and show that her US Open triumph wasn't a fluke.
Speaking during the same interview, Raducanu also admitted, that probably as every tennis player, she dreams of winning Wimbledon. For her, it would be even more special, as the British crowd always supports her.
"Wimbledon is the dream and always has been growing up. It's still the ultimate dream to win Wimbledon."
