Elena Rybakina is through to the 3rd round of Roland Garros after another solid performance beating Noskova in two sets.
Rybakina has been proving to be quite steady on a tennis court as she added another straight-sets win at Roland Garros. The first round saw her beat rising youngster Fruhvirtova in two sets and now she did the same to another youngster Noskova.
It was a fair match that largely saw Rybakina demonstrate her steady and consistent tennis making it look very easy. She didn't really face any kind of trouble in the opening set taking it without facing a single break point.
Being able to break Noskova early only gave her confidence to keep doing what she was doing and it worked. 16 winners without a single ace demonstrated her baseline superiority even when her serve wasn't setting up points for her.
Only 43 % of the time was the first serve hit and yet Rybakina only dropped only five points on her serve in the opening set. Noskova greatly helped her by committing far too many mistakes (18) to stay in the match. The Czech youngster loves that aggressive play and has a heavy game but not the consistency Rybakina demonstrated once more.
The Rome triumph showed Rybakina that her clay level is good enough and her assumption is proving correct so far. The second set saw Noskova take a more measured approach which yielded some success as Rybakina overhit a bit more than in the opening set. She served better but faced break points this time around saving all four.
In the end the crucial break came at 4-3 in the second set for Rybakina with a lenghty (5+ minutes) game seeing her finish off the match in style. Not perfect but pretty good overall for the Kazakh number one.
