Alexander Zverev is back at the Madrid Open and he's really happy to be back on his favourite court.

There is no Grand Slam or ATP Masters 1000 tournament, where Alexander Zverev would be more successful than at the Madrid Open. Over the years, the German won 86% of the matches that he played at La Caja Magica and he lifted two trophies in the Spanish capital.

Since his first participation in 2017, Zverev always reached at least quarterfinals in Madrid, and on three occasions, he played in the final. In 2023, he started with a difficult second-round match that was played until late night, but he eventually overcame the challenge from the home player Roberto Carballes Baena.

Zverev won in three sets 6-7(6), 7-5, 6-0 in a match that lasted three hours and 21 minutes and kept fans watching well past midnight. After the match, he was very happy with the fact that he was able to come back, especially after nervous exit from the home event in Munich, saying:

"[It was a] very important match for me, especially after the struggles in three-set matches this year. I think it was one or two points that decided the match and I'm obviously very happy with how it went."

But the most important thing for Zverev is being back in Madrid. There are not many courts where he would have more success than at La Caja Magica and even the German admitted that it's his most favourite court in the world.

"I'm just looking forward to being back, playing these kind of matches, playing in the bigger stadiums. Especially here, I've said it before, this is my absolute favourite court in the whole world. We'll see how it goes."
