'Alcaraz Going To Be Reason Why Players Will Earn More Money' Claims Wilander

Carlos Alcaraz is special and everyone who ever watched him knows that he is truly special with Mats Wilander calling him 'the special one'.

The list of tennis people who haven't gushed about Alcaraz as a player is very short. The kid is special and there is no denying that. He became the youngest number one ever on the ATP Tour last year after lifting his maiden grand slam trophy in New York.

According to John McEnroe, he's the greatest 20-year-old tennis player he's ever seen. According to Mats Wilander, he's the most exciting tennis player ever, so you can spot the trend. According to many experienced people, he's just sensational. According to Wilander, he's just a product of somebody who watched the big three growing up carrying traits from all three of them.

You take Carlos Alcaraz, who, for me, is the birth of a tennis player who has lived his life watching Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. I don't think he's based his game on anyone but he's been sort of poisoned by watching these guys play. He moves like Djokovic, he's passionate like Nadal, he has shot making skills like Federer.

One thing that separated Alcaraz from those players though is the thorough enjoyment he has while on a tennis court. The big three enjoy tennis, that's clear yet while they're on the court it's all business. For Alcaraz it's fine, it's a game and he's always smiling which makes the whole experience much more fun for the viewer as well.

But the one thing that these guys didn't do, is they didn't show the world that they're having so much fun all the time. And that's why Carlos Alcaraz, to me, is going to be the main reason why tennis players – especially on the men's side – are going to start making way more money. He's going to be like the Tiger Woods effect because people want to be a part of tennis because of Carlos Alcaraz.
