Former player and current analyst Mats Wilander believes that Carlos Alcaraz has the ability to change the history of tennis.

It happened a few times in the past with several players over the years. Most notably it happened with Roger Federer whose tennis being the model for many young players coming up in the years since including Alcaraz. Wilander believes that Alcarz has the same talent and that his impact will be huge.

After Medvedev beat Djokovic two years ago at the US Open, we thought it would be him who would take charge of tennis. But it hasn't been like that because Novak and Nadal are still there and winning. Alcaraz can be the tennis player who decides the future history of our sport.

The Spaniard possesses tremendous talent with a vast array of shots and ways to win a point. He is super quick on the court and moves really well. The forehand is good, the backhand is good, and the drop shot is a killer on clay. He's very confident in his abilities and rather aggressive.

It's a perfect mix of tools for him to be on the top for many years to come and Wilander agrees. After all, the Swede has seen the like of this only once before and it was with Federer.

I had only seen a tennis player with such an arsenal of strokes and variety in his game and his name was Roger Federer.

That variety is what will help him become an all-court player and for the most part he already is. The worst surface for him is grass but even there he's capable of producing some amazing tennis. If he truly develops his game to that level, it's going to be really hard to stop and he might just inspire the new generation of tennis players.
