Stefanos Tsitsipas is sure that he'll be back in the Top 10, jokingly claiming that he'll do it in about three weeks.
Lately, it hasn't been the best of times for Tsitsipas, who has struggled to put together strong results. He's been a very consistent player for much of his career, which is why he remained in the Top 10 for five years, but that ended this year as he dropped out of it.
It was a pretty strange development because it kind of happened under the radar, surprising many people, but when you really roll back the film, he hasn't looked good for a long time.
He admitted it's a tough thing to deal with, but he has a belief that he'll be back in the Top 10 as he revealed when talking to TennisTV ahead of the 2024 Miami Open.
"It's a number but it also matters because you obviously want to be in the Top 10. I get a little bit frustrated with this but I feel like I will find my way back into it if I continue believing that I can still be back there."
He was then asked about being the last one-handed backhand player in the Top 10 before dropping out, and he boldly predicted that he's going to be back there in three weeks. He also said that he would love the legacy of the shot to live on.
"I'll just tell you. Wait three weeks and it will be back. I believe that the single handed backhand is not done yet. It's an old-school shot that gets remastered and reinvented. So I'm sure we're going to see al ot of players that keep the legacy of the single handed backhand."
