'Wouldn't Have Done This For Anyone Else': Tsitsipas On Playing Doubles With Brother

Stefanos Tsitsipas rebounded well from his doubles loss yesterday to win his singles match in straight sets at Roland Garros.

Tsitsipas has 3 matches under his belt in Paris this year. His first match saw him battle Jir Vesely for four sets, ultimately winning. His second singles match saw him battle Robert Carballes Baena and cruise in three sets.

The only match he did lose was a doubles match with his brother and he talked about his following the win over Carballes Baena admitting that it sucked losing a close match like that. Having a singles matches some 12 hours later wasn't ideal either.

Trust me, it sucks. To be losing that with your brother, it sucks more than usual. And I had to shift my focus towards singles, but having put in so much effort, in a way, I'm doing this for my brother. I don't think I would have done this for anyone else.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is really close with his brother and loves playing with him. He often talks about playing the doubles with him as his favourite thing about tennis pushing aside his singles success to prop up his brother.

Petros Tsisipas attempted to play singles but he never found his footing there. He did find his footing in tennis and is not a bad player playing doubles with other players this year as well. On playing with his brother, Tsitsipas only has good things to say.

I'm so happy that we get to do this together, because I remember when we were little kids, we wanted to be part of this, like this is our dream, in a way. So him, having worked so hard and earned the spot in  a doubles draw, I just want to go for it. You know, we have been very close a few times. We have had a lot of battles. Not that many, but we had a few battles in Grand Slam events.

Tsitsipas wants them to become better as a doubles team in the future so they can challenge for trophies. Petros himself will likely focus on his doubles career and perhaps he can equal his brother's milestone if he works hard enough.
