Stefanos Tsitsipas got very close to winning a Grand Slam title in the past and he believes that he will be soon able to make the final step.

The Greek player is set to compete at the 2023 Barcelona Open and ahead of the tournament he spoke to the media. The second-seeded Tsitsipas will start the event against the winner of the match between Pedro Cachin and Gijs Brouwer but soon on his journey he may encounter a meeting with Alex de Minaur or Jannik Sinner. However, he's not scare of such a meeting but looks forward to it.

"I'm happy to return to Barcelona Open. I still have to improve my game, but the tournament is very long. I prefer to have complicated matches, against players like Jannik Sinner or Alex dem Minaur I have to push myself more to improve day by day."

Recently, the world of tennis has been talking a lot about the possible future rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. And while Tsitsipas knows that younger players than him may be taking over the ATP Tour, he is also aware of the fact that the rivalry is helping the sport in general.

“The rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner is normal and very healthy in my opinion. They are two great players who are growing a lot. I need to improve more, tennis is getting more difficult and intense. There are great players on the courts who fight for everything."

One of the biggest goals of every tennis player is certainly winning a Grand Slam title and in 2023, Tsitsipas was very close to that but fell short to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final. But the Greek feels like a triumph is very close.

"I am very close to winning a Grand Slam final, I just hope to continue working to continue on the same path and reach those finals. I need to give myself opportunities to win them. This is a great tournament, and I hope that with effort and dedication I can get one. great victory."
