Dominic Thiem is not giving up on his comeback as the Austrian is adamant that he'll return to the top if he continues to work on it.
Thiem has been utterly terrible this year losing the vast majority of matches he played. He is 2-10 on the year and a loss is pretty much standard for him. Nobody was surprised about his latest one in Miami and he himself acknowledged the problem of it.
It's been a tough time mentally as he admitted recently to thinking about life after tennis because tennis hasn't been that enjoyable lately. He's not losing hope as he admitted on Instagram following his Miami Open exit promising to work his way back to the top.
Currently on my way back home! @miamiopen , thank you for the WC! Over and over again, it's a fantastic event! I am already looking forward to returning to one of the most amazing cities! At the moment, it's all about the small steps in my process. Step by step, I will work my way forward.
The clay season will give Thiem a chance to better his level because that's what happened last year too. A few wins on clay gave him confidence and it translated to indoor events. He's hopeful about that happening once more because it's his best surface and has always been. Events, where he'll play, include the Monte-Carlo Masters among others.
He'll also take part in some smaller events like the Munich Open with the hopes o those smaller events providing him with a good chance to take on some players that might be lower ranked. Tennis is so much about confidence so any kind of win will do him well.
He's clearly aware of the process as he explained that he'll rebuild his form step by step.
