Sinner 'Graduated' To Be One Of Top 4 Players In The World Says Roddick

Jannik Sinner has made tremendous progress this year, and according to former ATP world no. 1, Andy Roddick, he graduated to a Top 4 player.

Sinner has been playing really good tennis for a while now. He had a really solid start to the year with some amazing performances. It continued throughout the year with his maiden ATP 1000 trophy and a couple of more.

He won the China Open, he won the Vienna Open and he then had a really good run at the 2023 ATP Finals in Turin, losing in the final to Novak Djokovic. It was an amazing week for the Italian, and proof that he's really among the elite players right now.

In a new column for Betway, Roddick mentioned Sinner and his 'graduation' which is how the American described Sinner's progress this year.

It was a big week for Sinner after a great six months. He’s now graduated to that stage of being No.3 or No. 4 in the world and being in the mix every week. All of a sudden, you’re looking at him maybe being able to sneak a major and not feel like you’re projecting too far forward into the future. He’s worked on his serve and has gotten a lot stronger after adding muscle to his skinny frame in the last off-season.

You used to be able to count on some weird errors in tight situations, but his error counts have dropped. He’s just becoming more and more of a complete player with every month that passes, and closing out tournament wins against big players. If I’m in Sinner’s team, next year can’t get here soon enough, even after a long season.

We'll see what happens with Sinner next year, but it's hard to imagine that he'll regress. He'll probably be in contention to win a Grand Slam. Whether he actually does remains to be seen.
