For the first time in Laver Cup history and quite possibly the last time, the top four will play for Team Europe as Novak Djokovic signed up for the event.

The Serbian has played at the Laver Cup in the past however this edition will be special. It's special for a number of reasons. First of all, it will mark the return of tennis to the legendary O2 arena in London that hosted the ATP Finals for over a decade. It's been a favourite place to play tennis for many players who competed at the ATP Finals before.

Second of all, it will mark the first time in history that the 'top four' will play at the event. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer will all suit up for Europe later this year and considering the circumstances, it might be the only time we get to see them play for the same side. All of them, except Murray, have played at the event before so this will mark his debut on native soil as well.

it's just going to be the literal festival of tennis that Roger Federer envisioned when he thought about it initially. Four legendary players playing for the same time in a legendary area in front of passionate fans. What's not to like.

Djokovic said:

"I’m really excited to be joining Team Europe again for the Laver Cup at London’s O2 arena in September. It’s the only competition where you can play in a team environment with guys that you’re normally competing against and to be joining Rafa, Roger and Andy – three of my biggest all-time rivals – it’s going to be a truly unique moment in the history of our sport."
