Andy Murray's mother, Judy Murray, blasted The Telegraph for posting private medical details of her son while also confirming that he's not ruled out of playing at Wimbledon yet.
Since he came down with yet another injury in the previous few days, a lot has happened regarding the British player's Wimbledon participation. In recent years, Murray has had a very long list of injuries, and his most recent match featured him picking up a back injury and retiring against Jordan Thompson at the Queen's Club.
The injury had to be surgically addressed, as Murray underwent back surgery a few days ago. That meant that Wimbledon was seriously in doubt for him. The recovery time is generally about four weeks for such surgery, and there is only one week until Wimbledon.
A social media post by the ATP confirmed his withdrawal, but it was later removed at the request of Murray's team. Then, his team reported that Murray was hoping to play at Wimbledon despite the surgery.
The Telegraph also reported details of the surgery, ruling him out of playing at the event, which angered his mother, who responded to the report on X.
Judy Murray was disappointed that the publication posted her son's private medical details while adding that he is not yet ruled out of playing at Wimbledon.
"When your private medical details are leaked to the media by someone you thought you could trust. So disappointing. And – FYI – not ruled out yet."
Murray earlier confirmed that this would be his final Wimbledon, and missing the tournament like that, while fitting, would be catastrophic for the Brit. As unlikely as it seems, it's very likely that he'll try to force the issue and simply play at SW19 to say one last goodbye to the fans in the United Kingdom.
