Medvedev Admits He Has To Watch Tennis On 'Pirate Website' Amid Spectrum Fiasco

Daniil Medvedev is known to watch matches during a Grand Slam, but he had to be creative to do that at this year's US Open.

Daniil Medvedev is one of those tennis players that likes to follow along a Grand Slam as it goes on. He tends to watch matches and follow scores, something he shares with Carlos Alcaraz. It's not the norm for most players, but he enjoys it as it's technically scouting in ways.

Speaking about that habit following his most recent win at the event, Medvedev admitted that he had to be creative in order to watch the matches because he couldn't watch the event on the TV in his hotel because his hotel uses Spectrum as a provider.

Funny, I was waiting for this question because I guess in a lot of hotels they have Spectrum. I cannot watch it on TV anymore. I don't know if it's legal or illegal, but I have to find a way because I cannot watch it on TV. I got Internet, probably this, how you call it, pirate websites, I watch tennis there. I have no other choice.

While Medvedev does follow along matches, he doesn't only do that. He only watches those that interest him, but sometimes he'll put on a show or something. The most recent one he watched was the match between Novak Djokovic and Laslo Djere, which he followed along until 02:30 am local time.

But at the same time sometimes I do want to watch some series. Do I put it on the phone or not? I watched Djokovic with Djere until it was 2:30 and then I had to go to sleep.

Medvedev hopes to avoid having to watch the US Open final wanting to actually play it. We'll see if it happens, but he's got a good chance as the 3rd likeliest to win the event behind Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.
