The coach of Novak Djokovic, Goran Ivanisevic, spoke about the upcoming era of tennis calling it a very interesting time.
Novak Djokovic last played at Wimbledon, where she suffered a very painful loss to Carlos Alcaraz which Ivanisevic saw up close. They, as a team, couldn't find a solution for Alcaraz whom they just outsmarted a month before in Paris.
It's not the end of an era, according to some, but it certainly signaled the start of something new, even though we don't know what it is. Will Alcaraz, dominate ? Will Djokovic bounce back? It's too hard to tell though Ivansevic highlight praised Alcaraz, calling his future very bright.
He is a mixture of all three and he has an incredible future ahead of him. If he continues like this, he has an incredible future ahead of him. He does it all with a smile, and we have the opportunity to watch him in the last three editions of this tournament (the ATP 250 event in Umag).
Alcaraz and Djokovic had a bit of a mini-rivalry right now, with three matches played and the Spaniard leading 2-1 in H2H on the ATP Tour. Arguably the biggest match between them, the one recently at Wimbledon, was won by the Spaniard.
Now everyone is expecting a new rivalry between Alcaraz and Novak. Although the age difference is big, they will still play a lot of finals. We have an interesting tennis era ahead of us.
It was a tough loss for Djokovic, one that will take time to process fully. Ivanisevic himself hasn't gotten over it yet, admitting to feeling sadness about it still, but he empathized most with Djokovic, who actually stood on the court.
I’m still a little sad, but it’s harder for Novak because he was on the court. But kudos to Carlos, he showed the world what kind of tennis player he is. A five-set match that went in his favour, but Novak took the chances you have to in such a final.
