Novak Djokovic will contest the Roland Garros final on Sunday against Casper Ruud and he'll have the backing of Andy Murray.
Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic grew up together on the ATP Tour and have had a good relationship for most of it. The Brit was recently one of the very few players that spoke up for Djokovic during his Kosovo controversy and he'll be supporting him in the Roland Garros final.
It's a big one for Djokovic as he tries to become the first player ever to win 23 Grand Slams. A win over Ruud would push him to number one as the winningest male player at grand slams right now and quite possibly ever due to Nadal's career being in limbo.
It would be amazing to see him do it on Sunday, I will be supporting him, and I hope he can do it because it is incredible what he has done. I think that was Novak's 45th Grand Slam semi-final which is incredible numbers.
The chance to contest number 23 came for Djokovic after he defeated the number one favourite according to many - Carlos Alcaraz. It was a disappointing finish for the youngster because he lost of cramps and not really because of his level and those hurt the most. Murray had words of encouragement for the youngster, echoing some things Djokovic said as well.
Alcaraz is obviously going to win multiple slams, I feel like from my experience that when you are coming up against guys who have won 10 or 20 Grand Slams in the final or semifinals, it is different to competing against those players who have not had those experiences.
Murray didn't watch that match because of his own tennis commitmetns and he won't watch the final either as he will be playing a final of his own. He'll face Jurij Rodionov in the Surbiton challenger final.
