Frances Tiafoe had some trouble getting to Shanghai ahead of the 2023 Shanghai Masters, as he missed his initial flight.

The American last played at the Laver Cup, where he had a great time seeing his Team win the competition for the second time in a row. He played well at the event and enjoyed some time back home in Washington, but now it's time to get back to the grind.

First on the schedule is the Shanghai Masters, but Tiafoe actually had some trouble getting to the event. The American explained the unfortunate situation in a recent talk with Tennis TV, admitting that he missed his flight.

As he explained, Washington has two airports if you want to go abroad, and Tiafoe picked the wrong one, causing him to miss his flight and delaying his arrival in China by a full day.

So I went to the wrong airport coming here. Oh, super tired at it. 8 am or whatever flight, leaving around five 30. Going to the airport, but we have two airports in DC to go International one DCA and one Dulles. And I went to DCA and I was supposed to go to Dulles and I missed the flight, so I had to fly the following day.

Ultimately, it wasn't a huge problem for the American as he still arrived in Shanghai on time, but he did miss an entire day there. That will play a part in him getting acclimated, but it shouldn't be a huge issue for one of the most adaptable tennis players on the ATP Tour.

Tiafoe needs some good results to snap back winning form and finish off this really strong year of his the right way. He's unlikely to secure a spot at the ATP Finals but crazier things have happened. He's not entirely out of it, either.
