Carlos Alcaraz wants to beat the best players in the world, which is why he wants Novak Djokovic to be present in the draws of the biggest events.

Alcaraz chose to play some high-quality matches ahead of the 2023 season, which he will enter as the youngest ATP World No. 1 player in the history of the sport.

Because of that, he signed up for the 2022 Mubadala World Tennis Championship, which is an exhibition event held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Ahead of the event, at which he's one of the two seeded players and will take on Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals, Alcaraz spoke about Djokovic, wanting to see him play tournaments.

"Tennis is better having the best players in the world, and for the fans as well it's good to see a tournament with the best players."

Alcaraz's comments come after he won the US Open, which was a Grand Slam in which Djokovic couldn't compete. The Serbian player wasn't able to enter the United States because he is not vaccinated.

The young Spaniard said that if he wants to be the best, he also has to win against the best, which is why he wants to play against Djokovic. They have met once so far, with Alcaraz winning their match in Madrid 6-7(5), 7-5, 7-6(5).

"Talking for me, I want to see Novak play in every tournament. I always said that if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best player in the world. I'm a lucky guy to have Djokovic on the tour."

Alcaraz also spoke about his abdominal injury, which has been bothering him at the end of the 2022 season. He revealed that he now feels close to his best.

"I feel good finally. I had a month to recover well the ab and right now I feel almost 100 percent. I have been training normally this past week, and I'm feeling great."
