Holger Rune Told To 'Never Apologize For Showing His Emotions'

Holger Rune is quite a passionate player who shows a wide array of emotions on the court, something he needs to keep doing, according to a tennis legend.

Holger Rune hasn't been in tennis for a long time, but the Dane has already had a few controversies. He's shown a lot of emotion on the court, ranging from pure rage to extreme joy, which some have criticized.

We've all gotten used to the stoic tennis players of the past, but this new generation brings a lot of fire to the game. Rune is one of those players that burns really hot, and it's earned him a fair share of criticism in the past.

He's been branded as cocky, disrespectful, and all sorts of other things which aren't really true. One former legend of the sport, Jimmy Connors, gave him advice when the Dane took part in his podcast recently.

I’m gonna say this, never apologize for showing your emotions and being an emotional player. You know, I always felt that I used that emotion to help drive me.

Connors to Rune

Plenty of players find motivation in the emotions that they feel. Just recently, Nick Kyrgios admitted to being fueled by the hate he received earlier in his career. Rune is that type of player.

He is capable of drawing inspiration from that and actually performs really well in those heated clashes.

As long as you are emotional, like my friend Ilie Nastase, he would get emotional but he would still be emotional five games later. That doesn’t work...I am very energetic and when you play with a lot of energy, you sometimes show too much emotion but again, it’s a part of the game.

It's pretty sound advice from Connors, who still has the most ATP singles trophies won with 109. Not a bad person to give advice.
