Holger Rune is a pretty confident tennis player which is one of the main reasons why he's been so successful early on yet off the court the Dane is far less cocky.

Many players have already had clashes with Holger Rune on the tennis court because he plays with a lot of passion. It's not the type of personality a lot of tennis players want to face on the tennis court but it allows him to play the way he does and it's brought him a lot of success early on in his career. The attitude is only reserved for the court as he's far more chill outside of it according to his own words.

I would not say that I am cocky. I am very down to earth. On the court I am different than outside the court. I just think it is because I am so passionate in what I do. I am very competitive. But when I am off the court I’m not like this, I am not cocky.

Coming from a country where tennis is not counted among the most popular sports, Rune is happy to see the country paying more attention to it. It's quite clearly due to him and his success and he wants to see the sport become even bigger as he considers himself a tennis freak, just incredibly passionate about it.

As a tennis freak, the more attention tennis gets in Denmark, the happier I am. What will help even more is the exhibition match in Copenhagen with me and Nick Kyrgios on May 24. It is a great feeling to attract more people to tennis and this match will certainly help.

Before the season Rune admitted that he wants to be number one and that he wouldn't mind it happening this year. After his Munich Open triumph, Rune confirmed that he still believes in it. He even believes that it can happen this year.

It is still my goal. It is still possible and it is still something I believe in.
