Ben Shelton is certainly one of the better players on the ATP Tour and he's only going to get better according to Rick Macci.

Rick Macci has seen a lot of tennis talents, and he coached quite a few of them. The man who helped Serena Williams become what she became is keeping an eye on tennis even if he's not a traveling coach.

He counts himself among fans of Ben Shelton, a superb player who is getting better by the minute. His tremendous run at the US Open secured him a Top 20 breakout, and he's certainly not going to stop there.

Some good showings in the Laver Cup and a good run at the Shanghai Masters prove that the future is bright.

Macci spoke about Shelton recently, calling him a pitbull who will be among the best players in the coming years singling out his serve as his major weapon while praising his forehand creativity as well.

The Florida Gator with the great serve; the lefty – Ben Shelton. The guy has a bomb; he can really hit spots. I really like his creativity in the forehand. The backhand needs to stabilize a little bit. That’s heading in the right direction.  His dad was a great player.

As he gets more experience, he is going to be a force – and he gets more consistent. What I like more that anything [is that] he is a dog – not a poodle, he is a Pitbull. I like his mentality; lot of upsides. Listen, this guy is not going anywhere and it’s a great thing for American tennis.

American tennis is in a really good spot right now, with a couple of great players emerging in recent years. From Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Tommy Paul to the young guns in Sebastian Korda and Shelton, it's looking really bright for the future.
