Much of what transpired on the courts during the summer for Stefanos Tsitsipas was overshadowed by his relationship with Paula Badosa.
The pairing tested their relationship earlier this year, not long after Tsitsipas crashed out of Roland Garros. It was a disappointing conclusion for the Greek as a former finalist of the event, but he didn't seem too disappointed when he confirmed his relationship with Badosa not long after that.
They had a pretty big social media presence in the coming weeks, entertaining fans with their blossoming love. Neither had a good time on the courts as Badosa battled injuries which she's still doing and Tsitsipas losing in consecutive events.
The response from the public slowly started coming, with many fans blaming his lack of focus on the relationship however he's quite happy with it.
Despite recent rumours about a possible breakup, the pairing showed Antwerpen looking as happy as ever, and Tsitsipas' recent words certainly confirm that.
My meeting with Paula gave me another vision of life in general. Before, it was always tennis, tennis, tennis, that was all that mattered, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And during that part of my young career, I didn’t spend enough time with my family.
To have Paula by my side now is great. I’m going through the best time of my life. I have the right people around me, I have no doubts with that. Everything is clear in my mind and I think it brings freshness to my tennis and to the way I want to succeed in the rest of my career, with these people by my side, and that is very important to me.
Being happy privately is important, and hopefully, he'll start to be happy about his tennis lately. It's about time after struggling for many previous weeks.
