The 2023 Paris Masters draw revealed something very exciting, and it's a super doubles match featuring Stan Wawrinka, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic doesn't really play doubles often, but he will have to play them at the upcoming Davis Cup Final Eight competition. When Serbia's team was announced recently, Djokovic was one of the players on it.
There wasn't any doubles specialist on the team, which means that Djokovic will partner some of his compatriots in an effort to power Serbia to the trophy. Because of that, he's teaming up with fellow Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic to test out the chemistry ahead of that event.
The Paris Masters seems like a perfect place to do so, so that's why it's happening. Now, the draw wasn't very kind to them, as they got a really tough pairing in the opening round, but it's a great matchup.
Fans will be excited to see Djokovic face former rival Stan Wawrinka and rising star Jannik Sinner on the opposite side of the net. It's a super doubles match indeed, with plenty of great players sharing the court at the same time.
It will be interesting to see how Djokovic and Kecmanovic do against a pretty tough pairing. Wawrinka is not a stranger to playing doubles, and Sinner certainly isn't either.
Djokovic is pretty good in doubles as well, but the last time he played for Serbia at the Davis Cup Finals, he couldn't win them a point in the competition. That's what makes this decision to practice with Kecmanovic a really smart one, and who knows?
Perhaps they will earn another match. Should they win, they'll face the third-seeded Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden. Now, that would like to be the end of their journey. Either way, let's see what happens against Sinner and Wawrinka first.
