Novak Djokovic is on a break from tennis right now, but he's still swinging something in Italy, even though it's not a tennis racquet.
Novak Djokovic last played in Valencia, helping Serbia book a spot in the Final 8 of the Davis Cup Finals. The Serbian extended his winning streak that started back in Cincinnati, where he finished with the trophy. He finished the US Open with a trophy as well.
He's on a 13-match winning streak right now, but we'll wait a bit for number 14 as he won't play in Asia. He's on a break after his tremendous run in the US and will return for the three final events of the year - Paris Masters, the ATP Finals, and the Davis Cup Finals.
While he's away from tennis, Djokovic is still swinging things, though it's a golf club, not a tennis racquet. The Serbian participated in the All-Star Match of the Ryder Cup in Rome, but he kept his tennis racquets in his bag. That was quite a sight for many people, and they all wondered why.
He revealed it in Rome, explaining that it's in case he disappoints people, he can always switch to his preferred thing of swinging which is a racquet.
The confidence level with golf is not that high. So, just in case things go in the wrong direction, I can always rely on the item that I am most comfortable with which is racket. And it's a pretty big surface so I think I am gonna hit the golf ball and it's gonna go hopefully straight.— Djokovic on the Ryder Cup
Djokovic did fine though earning the applause of the crowd after hitting a particularly nice shot.
I was going to play safe but the crowd made me do it. It was one of the best shots I've ever hit. I've never played golf in front of this many people, so considering my level I think I've played quite well.
