'Disappointment After Disappointment': Nadal Details Challenging Comeback Journey

Rafael Nadal is returning to tennis in less than 30 days, and it's been a long process for the Spanish legend, who has endured many disappointments along the way.

It's been almost a year since we last saw Nadal compete on a tennis court as the Spaniard injured himself at this year's Australian Open. Until that point, Nadal looked pretty solid, but everything changed in one moment.

He tried to come back for the clay season but failed which ultimately meant that he had to go under the knife. It was a difficult decision, but after weeks of disappointments, it became pretty clear that there was simply no other option.

It's been a long year in which I've gone through many phases, from trying to get back to compete at the clay season week after week disappointment after disappointment. Then I had to decide to stop and say "enough" and look for a definite solution which was the surgery.

The recovery process was no easier for Nadal, who had to go slowly. If you know what kind of competitor he is then you realise how tough it must have been for him to take it slowly and patiently.

It's not his first major injury, but it was a difficult path. Even so, the Spaniard never lost hope of maintaining a working spirit towards a comeback, which is coming up.

Since then, everything has been a new horizon, a difficult path, but always with the hope of coming back. Of course, I have had many doubts, of course, there were moments where it seemed impossible that this moment would come, but we've maintained the work spirit and hope and I think I'm ready.

He announced it in a video recently and it will be great to have him back. First week of January in Brisbane.
