Novak Djokovic is quite a spiritual person who is not shy to try a few things that many people might consider odd.
Just recently at Roland Garros, Djokovic was spotted carrying some device on his chest which sparked a discussion on social media among fans. That was not the only time something with Djokovic sparked a discussion as plenty of his moves were questioned.
From meditating barefoot in the Serbian mountains to meditating in a Buddhist temple in London, to electromagnetic regeneration in Bosnia, Djokovic did it all. He's never been shy about trying out things and being open to all schools of thought and you could say that it worked out well for him so far. The numbers don't lie in the end.
I think we all are. It's just that we all go through different journeys. I think the curiosity to discover the inner world as well as the outer world is something I feel like we all have, it's just manifested maybe for somebody earlier in life or someone later.
I feel very hungry for knowledge, for experiences. Life is a great journey that can offer a lot if one is open to experience. It just depends.
Djokovic has been able to collect more experience than the average person due to the nature of his work and his own curiosity. Not all of his experiences were all that great but he's adamant that all were important and contributed to where he is today, the player with the most Grand Slam trophies on the ATP Tour.
I can only speak on my own behalf. I've been through a lot of things in life for these 36 years. Very, very grateful for all that I have experienced. Also the bad experiences I've had, professionally and privately. Normally when you are feeling down, that's when you have an opportunity through those trials and tribulations to grow stronger, better, and to, yeah, I guess, use those lessons to become a better version of yourself.
It's a constant evolution. It never, never really stops. That's kind of the mindset I have on and off the court. That's the mindset that actually got me to where I am with my professional tennis career.
Even after all of these years of success, Djokovic is still keen on learning and improving. There is always something new to learn and as a tennis player, he understands that a lot of things are in the details and nuances.
He's always searching for ways to give himself a bigger edge over his competition which is one of the reasons why he's still on top among a group of much younger players.
I never want to stop growing, learning, trying to improve, trying to understand the nuances, the details, whether it's with my game, whether it's with my body, whether it's with my nutrition, whatever it is, recovery, that can take me a small step further.
Yeah, I think that's kind of an open mindset that I have towards life. I try to welcome all the experiences that I have and try to learn from them.
