Carlos Alcaraz will take on Novak Djokovic for a spot in the ATP Finals final, and he'll be eyeing win number 3 against the Serbian.
This is probably the most exciting matchup we can get in tennis right now. Both are playing pretty well right now, even though neither are at their peak. That's just my humble opinion, but even in these circumstances, we can expect both to rise to the occasion and deliver a good performance.
We have the world number one and the world number two playing in their fifth career meeting for a pretty big final. This almost became a showdown for number one, but Djokovic's win over Holger Rune officially secured him the number one rank.
We've seen four of these so far, with both players having two wins. The first match ever was won by Alcaraz in Madrid. Djokovic won the next one, and it was at this year's Roland Garros where Alcaraz suffered with cramps.
The third one was the Wimbledon epic, which Alcaraz won in five sets to win his second Grand Slam trophy. The next one came in Cincinnati, which Djokovic won despite Alcaraz being on top early. Expect this one to continue delivering amazing tennis.
But the question of who wins remains. It's a complicated question because either player could really well. I think that Alcaraz is closer to winning simply because he actually could have won all four of their matches.
It's not the worst matchup for the Spaniard, and he can play Djokovic. One thing that should be noted is the serve for Djokovic, as it's better than that of Alcaraz.
If he can create a lot of free points through that, then the Spaniard might be in trouble. The way both trended in recent days, I will stick with Alcaraz.
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
