The
prize money and ranking points for the 2025
Croatia Open, an
ATP 250 tournament that will be played from July 20th to 26th, have been revealed.
Scheduled during the second week after the 2025 Wimbledon Championships and the same week as the 2025 Kitzbuhel Open and the 2025 Washington Open, the Croatia Open managed to
secure the commitment of some great players despite the competition.
Stefanos Tsitsipas,
Hubert Hurkacz, and
Tallon Griekspoor are among the men on the entry list. Hopefully, Tsitsipas will be fit for the event after sustaining a fitness setback at Wimbledon.
The Greek No. 1 retired in the set of his opening round match at SW19. It was particularly brutal for him since
the hiring of Novak Djokovic's former coach, Goran Ivanisevic, a former Wimbledon winner, had generated much excitement.
Tsitsipas hopes for more success on the clay courts in Umag. The 2021 Roland Garros runner-up and three-time Monte-Carlo Masters champion has thrived more on clay than on any other surface throughout his career.
The Croatia Open is notable for being the tournament where Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played their first final in 2022. Sinner triumphed 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 after the 19-year-old Spaniard collapsed in the final two sets.
Alcaraz won the Croatia Open title in 2021. This year's players hope to replicate Sinner and Alcaraz's achievement by claiming the title and the highest share of the € 596,035 prize money pot.
The 2025 Croatia Open champion will collect €90,675 and 250 ranking points.
Francisco Cerundolo is the defending champion after defeating Lorenzo Musetti 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 in one of the best finals ever played in Umag.
Finishing as the runner-up would guarantee that player €52,890 and 165 points. Musetti will not try to take the next step and win the title after deciding to start his hard-court season after Wimbledon early.
Andrey Rublev and Jakub Mensik were the defeated 2024 semifinalists. Their participation and failure to progress to the final demonstrate how strong last year's Croatia Open draw was.
€31,090 and 100 ranking points will be given to the two players who lose in this year's semifinals. With the ATP rankings tight in many areas, 100 points would be enough to help some to jump several positions.
The four men who fall at the quarterfinal stage are set to earn €18,015 and 50 points. That is not bad, but players like Tsitsipas undoubtedly have ambitions to go much further and at least be among the final four in Umag.
€10,460 and 25 points are the rewards for being in the round of 16. The Top 4 seeds at the ATP 250 tournament receive byes to that stage. As it stands, Cerundolo, Tsitsipas, Griekspoor, and Hurkacz will get byes.
As always, players beaten in the opening round are not given ranking points. However, they will still receive €6,390 for automatically entering or qualifying for the main draw.
The Croatia Open and Kitbuhel Open will be the last clay-court tournaments played on the ATP Tour until March. Hopefully, the players ensure they deliver for the fans.
