The 2025 Croatia Open in Umag, played on clay, is one of three tournaments occurring during the second week after the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. It will run from July 20th to 26th.
There have been many high-profile winners in the Croatia Open's history. Carlos Alcaraz won his first ATP title as an 18-year-old at the 2021 edition, defeating the recently retired Richard Gasquet 6-2, 6-2 in the final.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz played the first final of their epic rivalry in 2022. The Spaniard took the opening set on a tiebreak before the current world No. 1 dominated the final two sets to triumph 6-7, 6-1, 6-1.
Alcaraz's coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, Rafael Nadal's former coach Carlos Moya, Dominic Thiem, Marin Cilic, and Stan Wawrinka are among the other players to win the tournament in Umag.
Although no Top 10 players are on the 2025 Croatian Open's entry list, fans should still be treated to much entertaining tennis since several men with entertaining styles have committed to competing at the event.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is the only Grand Slam finalist on the entry list. After consistently being in the Top 10 for a few years, the Greek No. 1 has slipped down the rankings and currently sits outside the Top 20.
Tsitsipas, who reached the 2021 Roland Garros final and the 2023 Australian Open final, showed what he can still do when his game clicks by winning February's 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships.
The 26-year-old may still be adjusting to not being coached by his father, Apostolos, after he was in that role for many years. Many felt Tsitsipas should have made that decision years ago to aid his development.
Tsitsipas recently discussed how toxic the pair's relationship became. Nonetheless, adapting to a new set-up after working with a family member for so many years might be challenging.
Hubert Hurkacz's appearance on the Croatian Open entry list is quite surprising. Some might have expected him to prioritize preparing for the following week's 2025 Canadian Open, a tournament in which he finished as the 2022 runner-up.
The Pole's decision might have been influenced by his run to the final of last month's 2025 Geneva Open. Djokovic dramatically defeated Hurkacz in a deciding set tiebreak to secure a 100th ATP title and first since the 2024 Olympics.
Francisco Cerundolo will return to defend the title he won last year. After a thrilling final, the Argentine impressively overcame Wimbledon and French Open semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti 2-6, 6-4, 7-6.
Tallon Griekspoor, also on the Croatian Open entry list, is usually fun to watch. The Dutchman has had several epic battles with Alexander Zverev in the last 18 months and can challenge most players when his game is working.
Luciano Darderi, Roberto Carballes Baena, Mariano Navone, and Cristian Garin are some of the other players on the entry list. Although surprises happen, players like Tsitsipas will probably feel they have a great chance of going far.
The 2025 Kitzbuhel Open and the 2025 Citi Open in Washington are the other tournaments that will occur during that week.
