David Ferrer agrees with many that Carlos Alcaraz will be a superb player however he thinks comparisons to Nadal are a bit too unrealistic.

In the age of social media, comparing has grown to become a very popular thing with many already comparing Alcaraz to Rafael Nadal. There are some similarities, quite a few actually with Carlitos possibly becoming the youngest player in the top 4 since Nadal with a triumph in Hamburg. His compatriot David Ferrer sees the potential but he thinks Nadal is a mouthful in those comparisons:

“Alcaraz is a great player, and without a doubt he is going to be a much better tennis player than me, that is very clear to me, but Nadal is a big word. Carlos has to make his career, but I’m sure he’s going to reach number one and win grand slams, because mentally he’s a very well-established player.”

As noted above, Ferrer rates Alcaraz very highly however comparing him to one of the greatest of all time is quite a thing to do. Still, people will do it and there is nothing that can be done. Alcaraz will either live up to those comparisons or not but Ferrer knows his team well and he's not worried:

“I know his team very well, from his representative Albert and his coaching staff with Juan Carlos Ferrero at the helm, who has also had the experience of being world number one, and has very clear ideas.”
