Roger Federer talked about possible Rafael Nadal's absence from the upcoming 2023 Roland Garros.

The Swiss Maestro and the Spanish King of Clay used to be rivals on the tennis court but now their life paths separated a little bit. While Nadal still competes on the ATP Tour, Federer is enjoying his retirement and he also had a chance to co-host Met Gala recently.

A few days later, he moved to Miami for the F1 Miami Grand Prix and while he was there to enjoy the race, Skysports managed to get an interview with the 20-time Grand Slam champion and ask him about what he thinks about his good friend's struggles.

"It would be brutal (Nadal not being there), that would be tough for tennis if Rafa isn't going to be there. I still hope so, I saw he pulled out of Rome so I wish him the best."

The former Swiss player also mentioned his other rival, Novak Djokovic, who too is struggling with injuries. Federer emphasized that he will be watching the event and according to his words, he wants to see many close battles on the tennis courts in the French capital.

"Obviously, Novak hasn't been playing that much so I hope he's going to be strong as well and then all the young guys coming through as well. I'll be watching that's for sure"

Speaking about his passion for Formula 1 and previous races that he attended, the Swiss Maestro revealed that he witnessed when Nico Rosberg beat Lewis Hamilton to the title in Abu Dhabi in 2016, but that he also watched last year's qualifying in Barcelona.

"It's my third time. I've been to Abu Dhabi, the big race with Hamilton and Rosberg at the time. And then, I did Barcelona qualifying last year, which I really enjoyed as well, it was a little bit more relaxed away from the big race, and now here. So, it's great to finally have a bit of time to do things like this as well."
