Carlos Alcaraz has struggled a bit lately, but fellow former ATP world no. 1, Daniil Medvedev, sees no problem with it because he's still very young.

One thing that gets forgotten often when people talk about Alcaraz is his age. Yes, he's one of the best players in the world and a two-time Grand Slam champion, but he's also very young.

He's only 20 years old, so obviously, he'll struggle at times. This is the most he's ever struggled, and he's still competitive at every event that he plays.

That says it all, so when Medvedev got asked about Alcaraz in a recent interview with Eurosport, he put things into perspective. And he did it really well.

"He started off crazy, at his age. Youngest world No. 1 in history, that says it all. That's why right now when he is losing maybe just a bit more matches than before, you see people starting to say 'oh maybe he lost his confidence a little bit'. He's still 20 years old, very young, so it's normal that sometimes in his career he's going to have some ups and downs."

Alcaraz returned to action this week, and he was doing really well, before losing to Nicolas Jarry in the semifinals of the Argentina Open. And that's also one of the reasons why he'll have to deal with all that changed since he became the global superstar.

"But the talent that he has is pretty unbelievable. So it's going to be interesting to see how he copes with all the things that come with playing good at tennis, a lot of sponsors, a lot of interest, stuff like this."
"Some guys are easy with it, some guys have pressure and handle it differently. I think he's still young to make any conclusions, so let's see how he goes later."
