Carlos Alcaraz hasn't had the greatest of time on the tennis courts recently, but he's happy to see that he can still play well.

Alcaraz was relieved with his performance against Alexander Zverev, even though it was a losing effort. He didn't lose it because he played badly but simply because he couldn't solve Zverev's serve.

It's not something exclusive to him, as Zverev actually won the ATP Finals in Turin before, also thanks to that serve. When it's firing hot, it's very tough to overcome.

The more important thing for Alcaraz was winning a match against Andrey Rublev on Wednesday. He played a fantastic match to beat the Russian and keep himself alive for the ATP Finals semi-finals. Winning that match was a huge relief for him.

I'm really, really happy with the win today. Beating Rublev, it's a great player, it gives you a lot of confidence. Obviously it's a little bit more special to win after the lose in the first match. It was really, really tough for me.
You could see I've been struggling with my level the last few months, few tournaments. Playing this match in this quality, at this level, it's really helpful for me coming into the third one. I'm really happy to show this level and realize that my level is still there, giving myself a chance in this tournament.

The goal now for Alcaraz will be to keep building upon this and win another one. Beating Medvedev will be really tough, and he failed to do that the last time they played, but it's not impossible. A spot in the semi-finals will be up for grabs, so the Spaniard should be motivated.

That match will happen on Friday, so stick with us to find out what happens and which players move on to the semi-finals.
