Alcaraz Dismisses Injury Concerns After Queen's Club Scare

by Kadir Macar

Carlos Alcaraz finished off a tricky week in London with the best possible outcome putting his name in the mix for Wimbledon.

Obviously, when you're one of the best players in the world you will be considered among those capable of winning Wimbledon. Alcaraz had serious doubts about that because to do that he would need to overcome Novak Djokovic.

It's something he failed to do not too long ago in Paris and it's certainly something that is much harder to do for Alcaraz on grass. The Spaniard arrived at the 2023 Cinch Championships without coach Ferrero but handled the week really well booking his maiden grass final.

Taking down de Minaur in the final was a tricky prospect but Alcaraz once again rose up to the occasion getting it done in two sets. He completed something he expressed doubts about a few days before the final and it only bolstered his confidence. Still, there was a moment that might have left his fans a bit concerned, as he had to have his thigh taped after the first set.

No, no. I mean, it appears here in the final. This is something I didn't feel during the week, but I think it's normal. It's something that all the players, you know, feel some problems, you know, during the week, during the year, and you have to take care about.

Alcaraz took a medical timeout to get his leg wrapped up after the first set which left many fans wondering whether there was a problem. As he explained, there was something that came up in the final that didn't bother him before the match but it's nothing serious. He shut down any concerns during the press conference later.

But it's nothing serious. We are gonna work this week before Wimbledon, you know, to be at or 100% to Wimbledon, but, you know, it is something that I'm not too worried about.
