Carlos Alcaraz was spotted checking out the screens during his post-match press conferences; it was match scores.
Carlos Alcaraz faced his biggest test at Wimbledon so far in Nicolas Jarry who once again pushed him quite hard on the court. They had a pretty fierce battle earlier this year in Rio which Alcaraz won. That was a pretty close match that the Spaniard had to turn around as Jarry took the opening set.
The trajectory of their Wimbledon match was a bit different but Jarry once again pushed Alcaraz pretty hard, almost forcing him to play a decider. There is just something about the matchup that gives Alcaraz trouble and it doesn't matter whether they play on Jarry's continent or on Alcaraz's.
After the match, Alcaraz had his post-match press conference though reporters spotted him looking at the screens frequently. Alcaraz might be one of the best tennis players in the world but he's also like most of us - in love with tennis.
He revealed that he was checking the score of the Rune - Davidovich Fokina match that he watched before coming out for the press conference. Alcaraz further admitted that loves Grand Slams because he follows along and pays attention to other matches.
Whoa, really close match. I mean, I was watching in the locker room the end of that match. Yeah, I'm a guy who were very, very happy when the Grand Slams arrive 'cause every day have matches. I love following the results, following the matches. I love that.
Having a lot of matches in the Grand Slam, I'm very, very happy. I look the results every day.
There aren't many players that do that as most tend to focus only on themselves in order to retain focus. It's not a problem for Alcaraz who doesn't really lose focus by following other matches which is quite impressive.
No, I don't. I don't lose the focus. I know what I have to do. I love to know what is happening in the tournament.
