The 2024 Olympics in Paris have laid out their clauses for athletes from Belarus and Russia to enter the games.
For a while now, it seemed that athletes from Russia and Belarus would be permitted to enter the 2024 Olympics despite protests from the Ukranian side. They felt a full ban on any individual from those countries was appropriate, but that did not happen, even with foreign support.
All of them will be playing under a neutral flag, which won't be too foreign for Russians, as they already did at the last games. Back then, athletes from Russia had to compete under the Russian Olympic Committee banner, not under the country flag, and this situation is similar.
Athletes from those two countries will include plenty of tennis players such as Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Aryna Sabalenka, Victoria Azarenka, and many more, will be registered as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN), and they'll have to adhere to strict protocol.
However, even the permission from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), doesn't give the athletes from these countries a clear green light, as ITF has its own rules, meaning that the Russian and Belarusian tennis players may still not appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
International Olympic Committee laid out clear rules, which state that all Russian and Belarusian athletes will be allowed to enter the tournament only as Individual Neutral Athletes ("AINs"), while being allowed to compete only in individual competitions, not teams.
On top of that, "athletes who actively support the war will not be eligible to be entered or to compete", as well as any athletes who have ties to any military agencies from the two countries.
Also, no flags, anthems, or even colours representing Russia or Belarus can't be used. The rules were set specifically for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
