Swiatek's Trouble: Roland Garros Final Opponent Muchova Yet To Lose Against Top 3 Player

Karolina Muchova will face a mammoth challenge in the final of Roland Garros against Iga Swiatek but it's something she's pretty good at.

Muchova produced a sensational level to defeat Aryna Sabalaenka in the Roland Garros semi-final. It was a long and grueling match and she was on the verge of losing. Sabalenka wasted a match point and served for the match but couldn't get it done.

It doesn't get any easier as she faces a player who lost only once in the past three years at Roland Garros. Swiatek was picked by many as the champion before the event started and very few, if any, would change that prediction now. She's the favourite to win but she'll face a player who has made a habit of beating top players.

Muchova's win over Sabalenka continued her incredible streaking of beating the Top 3 ranked players on the WTA Tour which now stands at 5-0. The Czech player is yet to lose against a player ranked in the top 3 at the moment of the match taking place.

It started back in 2019 at Wimbledon when she defeated number 3 at that time Karlina Pliskova. It continued in 2021 when she defeated number one Ashleigh Barty in Melbourne no less. Later that year, Muchova defeated world number two Naomi Osaka making her record against the Top 3 ranked players 3-0.

At last year's Roland Garros Muchova beat number 3 Sakkari and now a year later, she defeated number two Aryna Sabalenka. That streak is going to be on the line when she faces world number one Iga Swiatek on Saturday.

Another thing that is interesting is their H2H on the WTA Tour. They only played once so far and Muchova won that match in 2019. It was a match at the Prague Open on clay though it was much before Swiatek properly broke out as a player. This matchup will be a bit different but Haddad Maia showed that the Polish player is certainly vulnerable.
