Serena Williams and Venus Williams made yet another investment, this time in Tiger Woods' golf league.

In the world of tennis, few names are as instantly recognizable or as highly revered as Serena and Venus Williams. Even if they appear at a Formula 1 event, they quickly become recognized, and their reach certainly goes far beyond the world of tennis.

As athletes, they have redefined the sport with their dominance and skill. Now, they are set to make waves in a different sport - the golf world. The Williams sisters have recently expanded their sporting influence by buying the first of six teams in a golf league backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

This venture, the TGL League, is a partnership with the PGA Tour and combines technology with live action in a custom-built stadium. The purchase is of the Los Angeles Golf Club and signifies a strategic move by the sisters into the realm of golf, a globally recognized and highly popular sport.

Serena and Venus joined forces with Alexis Ohanian, Serena's husband and an entrepreneur, for this venture. Ohanian, who is a co-founder of the popular platform Reddit, was excited to join the league as one of the first team owners.

"Los Angeles is the perfect home for our TGL team. This city embodies the intersection of sports, technology, and entertainment, making it an ideal backdrop for the innovation and excitement we aim to bring to the world of golf and its fans."

According to his words, Ohanian and his family have much bigger plans with their new club than just making it a successful business venture, even saying that their daughter Olympia likes the sport.

"We see tremendous opportunities to leverage technology to bring golf closer to its fans and to provide an immersive and interactive experience that will captivate both seasoned golf enthusiasts and new fans. To wit, my wife Serena and I are delighted that Olympia has taken a liking to golf, so I’m proud to announce that they’re both owners in this club as well – as is the little one on the way! This is another piece of the legacy I’m building with my family, and I hope LAGC can become a part of many other families’ lives too."

Ohanian, in addition to his entrepreneurial accomplishments, is the control owner of the women’s WSL team Angel City FC. Their entry into the golf world comes at an exciting time for the sport. The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund recently formed part of a merger with the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, indicating significant transformations within the industry.

As such, the Williams sisters' involvement is not just an investment, but a testament to their commitment to supporting and innovating within the world of sports. TGL CEO Mike McCarley was also happy to welcome the Williams sisters along with Ohanian and their new club.

"We’re honored to welcome Alexis, Serena, and Venus as one of TGL’s original six team ownership groups. Through his ownership of Angel City FC, Alexis has established himself as a trailblazer in the Southern California professional sports scene. In a very short period of time, Angel City has both planted strong roots in the community and built tremendous value."

"Alexis and Serena have been a part of the TMRW Sports family as investors and their enthusiasm, along with Venus, for what we’re building with TGL has been infectious. Serena and Venus represent an important part of not just TMRW Sports and TGL’s mission of access to sports for kids and families, but also an important part of the spirit and purpose of LA Golf Club."
