Andrea Petkovic was very amused by the rumours of Rafael Nadal possibly becoming the next president of Real Madrid, joking about it during a TV appearance recently.
Andrea Petkovic was part of the Tennis Channel's team recently, where she talked about several things, including Rafael Nadal. The main story about Nadal was the recent report that Nadal could become the next president of Real Madrid when current president Florentino Perez ends in his position.
The news was discussed during the segment with Petkovic, and she was very amused by the news joking about Nadal's future. As we know, Nadal plans to retire after next year on the ATP Tour, but his uncle Toni suggested he could play beyond that if the injuries go away. Let's see what they do in 2025, president or tennis player.
First of all, what do you have to do as a president? You represent, which Rafael can represent, you go to a few press conferences and he can do that. If you have to keep up a ball, he can do that too, so why not? I don't want to think of it but soon retirement is on the horizon and you better find a new job, Rafa.- Petkovic on Nadal's future
Whatever happens with Nadal and his retirement, it's pretty clear that he won't be out of a job. Depends on what he wants to do, but he'll be in the spotlight wherever he goes. A coach? A possible TV career? Who knows. The rather-private Spaniard never craved the spotlight too much, but he did not shy away from it either.
Nadal is a huge football fan, though, so the news has some merit. He's a lifelong Real Madrid fan as well, attending matches often and having a pretty close relationship with president Perez and other prominent figures at the club.
