Caroline Wozniacki announced her return to the WTA Tour earlier this year, and today she did it, and she did it successfully, winning the match.

Caroline Wozniacki hasn't played competitive tennis in a very long time, but it proved no problem for the former number one, who returned with a win at the 2023 Canadian Open. When she announced her return to tennis earlier this year, many were stunned by the news.

Plenty were excited, and today showed why so many were excited. She's still a very good player, as she clearly demonstrated in this match though many things went right for her. She faced an inexperienced player, and that experience certainly proved to be the key.

We'll see how she does against more experienced players but even with all of that experience, Wozniacki was a bit nervous before the match. Even so, she quickly settled in as it's basically like riding a bike - you never quite forget it.

I think a little nervous going out there. You know, just you want to have a good start, and you want to perform well, but quickly you settle in. It's like riding a bike basically. You know, you never forget it once you're in there, but at the same time it is different.
When you play the important points or when you see an opening, you get really excited, and then you may not hit it as clean, and you are like, ah, I have to start from scratch in the rally.

Fans were delighted to see Wozniacki back on a tennis court, and you could tell how free she seemed. There was no pressure and no fear, which is something that she talked about before. She did everything she wanted to do in tennis, so this is just a bonus.

There's a lot of those moments in it, but also some moments in the match where I was like, wow, that was -- I didn't expect that coming off my racket right now. So, you know, it was just nice to be out there playing, and it was nice competing again.
