Coco Gauff supported an initiative by fellow U.S. player Madison Keys, which promotes kindness and raises awareness against bullying.
Despite being just 18 years old, Gauff already sets a positive with her behavior on and off the court. She always gives everything during matches while also making time for her fans, who the teenager does not take for granted.
She is also one of a small number of players in the men's or women's games who puts effort into both singles and doubles. That is why Gauff became the No. 1 doubles player after winning the Canadian Open with Jessica Pegula.
Gauff's personality makes her the ideal person to support Keys, one of tennis's most positive and likable people. That explains why she created an initiative to promote kindness to others, the proceeds of which will go to renovating tennis courts.
Several players supported the initiative, including her close friend Sloane Stephens, Jessica Pegula, Taylor Townsend, Alison Riske, Cat McNally, Shelby Rogers, Jennifer Brady, and Victoria Azarenka, who each made a $500 donation.
However, Gauff went even further. She donated $1,000 and announced why she had decided to support the initiative started by Keys, the 2017 US Open runner-up.
"Hi everyone, it's Coco Gauff and if you don't know what today is, it's Kindness Wins Day, and if you don't know what that is, it's an initiative started by Madison Keys and her Kindness Wins Foundation. And basically today, we're trying to raise up to $10,000 or more to help with their initiatives."
"And for this initiative, they will be renovating some courts, tennis courts that need some love, and I think this is an important cause because it gives everyone an opportunity to play no matter where they're from or their background. So I've donated $1000."
Hopefully, Keys' superb initiative will raise a substantial sum, and many tennis courts will be renovated because of her efforts.
