'Possible To Beat Him': Rune Not Scared Of Alcaraz

by Sebastian Dahlman

Holger Rune isn't afraid of Carlos Alcaraz as the Danish rising star is confident in the ability to defeat him on the court.

When he's playing his best, Carlos Alcaraz does look unbeatable. Even so, Novak Djokovic demonstrated that he's quite beatable and he's not the only one. Admittedly most of his losses this year were mostly because of things non-related to tennis.

He lost to Norrie because he was injured. He lost to Djokovic because he was cramping. He lost to Sinner after cramping in Miami and he lost to Maroszan due to fatigue. Technically you could argue that nobody beat him tennis-wise.

He's been spectacular for the most part, but even so, he's human. He's beatable, every player is beatable and Holger Rune has no fear of facing him. He's done it all throughout the juniors.

The junior rivalry with Carlos was great, we played very good games. And we get along, that's right. We confront each other a lot and push ourselves to our limits, and that's great, because it amuses people. He already knows, he is another one of those who fights until the end, and that makes everything more exciting.

They have yet to play in the professionals on the ATP Tour as they both managed to get themselves into the Top 10. They are the future of tennis but Rune is excited about that. Having that player to push you forward proved crucial for the big three and Rune wants something like that as well. Beating him will be very tough but he never shied away from a challenge.

He's already lost a few games this year, so it's possible to beat him, but it's clearly going to be tough. Right now, Carlos is one of the most difficult players to beat; but, I insist, everyone is going to lose one day.
