Carlos Alcaraz enters the 2023 Roland Garros relaxed after using some free days to spend time at home ahead of the event.

Carlos Alcaraz arrived in Rome after winning the Madrid Open with a wish to do well ahead of Roland Garros. The Spaniard had hoped of going deep but he was stunned by a player ranked outside of the top 100 leaving him with a few spare days ahead of Roland Garros.

He traveled back home to recharge his batteries ahead of a very crucial event for him and in some ways it might prove as a blessing in disguise for him. The Spaniard shared in his Roland Garros press conference what he did back home.

Well, I took some days off. Doing nothing, nothing, just chilling. Been with family, friends, you know, is needed as well.

The preparation for him didn't change much as he tried to have the customer 4-5 days of practising as he does ahead of every event. Being able to do that at home made it a bit more pleasant overall. He described the prep as 'great'.

Yeah, I try and I had like five days practicing in the academy at home that is really helpful for me, you know, to be away from tournaments a little bit, have more intensity practice, you know, physical, and of course in tennis that used to do this year, because I didn't have more than four days to practice, just to play matches and matches, and for me have this time to prepare Roland Garros as good as I did these past days. It was great.

The Roland Garros event is a major one for him as the number one seed and the favourite in many people's eyes. He's also in the battle for the number one rank as well so that's an added caveat.
