Andy Murray is more determined than ever to compete for Wimbledon titles, despite still being limited by his health.

Former world number one and three-time Grand Slam champion has revealed his ambition to compete for Wimbledon titles once again, even though his body may not allow him to do that. After the 2023 Madrid Open loss, Murray was asked if he's going to compete at the Roland Garros and he expressed his desire to do that as he may not get another chance.

But when answering the question about the clay-court Grand Slam tournament, Murray mentioned also probably his favourite place in the world, the All England Club, where he won two major titles and one Olympic Gold Medal. He revealed that he still has an ambition to fight for titles there, even though that may seem to be unrealistic now.

"I also have ambitions of, you know, competing for Wimbledon titles and that sort of stuff, and I know that sitting here today that probably doesn't sound realistic, but I do believe that that's a possibility. I obviously want to do the right thing there."

He first captured the prestigious title in 2013 and repeated the feat in 2016. As he pointed out, his success in these tournaments did not necessarily correlate with his performance in the French Open or other Grand Slam tournament as grass is somewhat of a special surface for the Scot. This observation serves to emphasize that Murray's focus on Wimbledon is not misplaced, and his ambition to compete for titles is well within the realm of possibility.

"But, you know, the experiences I have had when I have won Wimbledon has been in 2013 when I didn't play the French Open and won and 2016 I had my best French Open and won Wimbledon. It didn't have an impact necessarily."

However, to achieve his goal, Murray will face more challenging competition with every year that passes. The next generation is already making moves and the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Holger Rune have their names printed out on the list of favourites for every tournament alongside Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
