Andy Murray was pretty disappointed after his most recent loss to Alex de Minaur at the Paris Masters, breaking racquets after the match.
Murray endured two tough defeats against Alex de Minaur recently. The first one came in Shanghai where he had match points, and the second one came at the Paris Masters recently, where he also had a match point. The second one was particularly tough for the Brit who smashed a racquet during the match.
He apparently smashed a few more after the match according to Eurosport’s Alize Lim who heard him do that in the parking lot after his match which means that his anger and disappointment didn't leave him quickly.
There is an image that struck me a little and chilled me – it was Andy Murray who broke his racket after the match point against Alex De Minaur, and I was in the mixed zone, ready to do the interview of the winner at that moment, and I saw him pass and there, truly, his disappointment pierced my heart.
I heard him break his rackets, behind, in the parking lot. And it really showed his motivation and how important it is to him. It also brought back some very bad memories for me too.
Despite that, Murray's season isn't over yet. He's part of the British team that will play at the Davis Cup Finals. They were one of the stronger teams there with a good chance to win it all however the injury of Dan Evans puts them in a tough position though they still have chances.
It might be the last time Murray plays for the Davis Cup team of his country because he was unsure about ever playing last year. They didn't qualify last year for the Finals, so this would certainly be a more fitting goodbye for the former world number one.
