Following his horror fall in his French Open semi-final, Alexander Zverev has updated fans on the details of injury.
The German is currently returning to his home country to receive more treatment and rest following initial recovery work on his ankle, but that was not before he made sure to update the world of tennis on what he has done to it.
Zverev took a nasty looking tumble on Court Philippe Chatrier when playing all-time great Rafael Nadal. It shortly became evident the German was not going to be able to continue and he was taken off in a wheelchair due to the pain.
Zverev has wasted no time in trying to recover, with him seeing professionals in the industry to try and get to the bottom of the best treatment possible.
All the while, the tennis world has waited with baited breath to find out the seriousness or otherwise of the injury. The wait is finally over for his fans, with the German taking to Instagram to update them:
"Hey guys! I am now on my way back home. Based on the first medical checks, it looks like I have torn several lateral ligaments in my right foot. I will be flying to Germany on Monday to make further examinations and to determine the best and quickest way for me to recover."
The German continued along the same vein, thanking his fans for their long-standing support:
"I want to thank everyone all over the world for the kind messages that I have received since yesterday. Your support means a lot to me right now!And many thanks to my friends from @goodwill_private_aviation for taking such good care of me in the given circumstances.I will try to keep you updated as much as possible on further developments.See you next time @rolandgarros!"
