"It hurts to see Rafael Nadal suffering with the sport he loves" admits Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal are good friends when the young Spaniard expressed his admiration for his more experienced colleague many times, while the 21-time Grand Slam champion is not shy to praise the youngster.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz, a native of El Palmar, was the focus of attention at the Autonomous Community's Sports Gala, held in the El Batel Auditorium, where he was voted the best athlete in the Region for 2021, sharing the prize with moto-rider Pedro Acosta and athlete Mohamed Katir. In the meantime, Rafael Nadal is recovering from a little injury he experienced during the Italian Open in Rome, and speaking of one of his idols, the young Spaniard said:

"I don't like to see Rafa suffering with the sport he loves and it hurts me too. I hope and wish that he recovers and that he will be competitive." Later on, he also spoke about his season so far and his goals when he added:

"I didn't imagine being third of the year and fighting to be first at this point, although one of my goals was to be up at the end of the season. I am very happy," Alcaraz said. "It motivates me to be given as one of the favorites to win in Roland Garros and more than pressure it is a stimulus to give everything. I am feeling better and better and I feel energetic and eager and knowing that I have my options."
