Carlos Alcaraz is and will inevitably be compared to Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer, but he doesn't think it matters.
No young player enjoys being compared to legendary players because it's just a tremendous amount of pressure in a position where they already have a tremendous amount of pressure.
We've seen it repeatedly: young, talented players rejecting comparisons with legendary players. Most of the comparisons come from tennis fans, however, it isn't always a very productive conversation.
Still, it exists because these sports are measured by results, which are quite easy to compare. When it comes to Alcaraz, he's been really strong as a very young player, even better than some legendary players, which is where the comparison comes in.
He's not really concerned by that because he doesn't think it matters. What matters is the final resume and not what he's done at 21, which in his case includes winning three majors.
"I don't remember. I've seen videos, but with some highlights I can't compare to them when they were my age As I have always said, it doesn't matter what I achieved at 21 years old if I stagnate here."
Alcaraz clearly wants to emulate those legendary players and play well for many years to come, with the goal of creating an impressive resume like theirs.
When all is said and done, we'll compare and see where Alcaraz stacks up against some of the legendary plays. Still, we will have to wait for a while, though, as he plans to play well past 30.
"In the end, I want to continue my career and continue growing to get to where Djokovic, Rafa, and Federer are until recently. The good ones and the greats have continued to improve during their careers until they reach the age of 37-38 in their prime."
