'Gifted Athlete': Tsitsipas Shares Insights Into His Friendship With Alisha Lehmann

| by Balasz Virag

Stefanos Tsitsipas is a very interesting individual so his friendship with a female football player shouldn't be a surprise.

Yet many were surprised to find out that Tsitsipas is friends with Alisha Lehmann, a football player playing for Aston Villa in England. She's a very gifted athlete known both for her football on the court and her private life off the court which is particularly interesting to the tabloids.

Tsitsipas though made an emphasis on befriending athletes from various sports and football was a natural choice. Being a longtime Aston Villa supporter only made it more natural for him to befriend Lehmann. He also gifted her a racquet of his.

I'm a big supporter of Aston Villa, and have always been a supporter of the team. Alisha is a gifted athlete, plays very good football. I guess we have kind of, I have always had that idea in my head to make friends from each different sports in different backgrounds. It has evolved into a very nice friendship. I just wish herthe best. I'm supporting her quite often.

It's not the only friendship he has of course as he's friends with fellow Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo who is a very prominent basketball player in the NBA. He believes that fostering friendships with fellow athletes is important though that wasn't always the case. Earlier is his career, Tsitispas mostly focused on tennis and ignored all else.

It's something that I have been very carefully kind of have started building. When I was younger, I had a phase where I'm, like, I'm just going to focus on my tennis, Iwon't focus on any friends right now, this is not an important part of my life to be making friends. Right now, I'm at a phase of my life where having friends and having different type of communications and connections with people means so much to me because I'm learning somuch through that, which ultimately just makes me a better person which I'm aiming for every single day.

When it comes to his tennis though Tsitsipas has been experiencing a bit of a rocky time. He recently split with Mark Philippouissis and then explained that despite getting along with him well, too many coaches didn't prove very beneficial. For now, he opted to continue with his father as a primary coach though he wouldn't elaborate on the skirmish they had with his parents in Rome recently.
