Federer Reveals He Trains His Kids Tennis But Also Sent Them To Camp Of Former Rival Nadal

Roger Federer is a father to four kids, and in a recent interview, the Swiss former player opened up about his kids loving tennis.

Whether it's genetic or not remains to be seen, but the fact is that all four of Federe's kids enjoy tennis. Having parents who both played tennis certainly has something to do with it, as racquets have surrounded them since they were little.

In a recent interview with WSJ Magazine, Federer opened up about his family and how both sets of twins, aged 14 and 9, love tennis and how they employ him to coach them. It's a great bonding thing for the Federer family.

All four kids love it. The girls didn't love it in the beginning but as they got better, they're enjoying it and playing points now. They were up at [John] McEnroe Academy in East Hampton, and the boys were in Mallorca at the [Rafael Nadal] camp for a couple of days.

Federer has been away from the sport for over a year now, but he was never going to be far away from the sport. He's not doing much actively in the sport but his life still has tennis present and who knows, perhaps some of the kids turn pro in a couple of years.

When I have time — and I try to make the time — I go on the court with them a little bit. It's obviously an interesting dynamic, because I'm the dad, and not a former player. It is what it is.

Federer on coaching his kids

He didn't specify whether they would play professionally, but they've been around the ATP Tour since they were little. Father time was always important to him, and they travelled with him as he kept playing. If not, he'd have retired years before he ultimately did.
